In 2014 I became licensed with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario and I started my private practice as a small, part-time endeavour. This enabled me to continue to gain work experience in a range of mental health settings, including as an associate for groups such as the Capital Choice Counselling Group and the Ottawa Neurofeedback and Psychotherapy Centre, and a clinical supervisor for CMAP Health's Psychotherapy Practicum program. I have benefitted from countless hours of clinical supervision under Registered Psychologists who have shared their knowledge of diverse therapeutic approaches and treatment areas.

Over the past decade, my practice has grown to meet increasing demand. I’m very lucky to have come across a few like-minded therapists who, as they were at earlier stages in their careers, sought my supervision. These associates are now invaluable additions to my practice.

Dana's Professional Background

From 2006 to 2017, I worked primarily in university settings as a counsellor for young adults. My early studies and research experiences focused on procrastination and self-control issues, the alliance between therapist and client, and the influence of mental health on academic success. I obtained a Master of Education in Counselling from the University of Ottawa in 2011, and subsequently became heavily involved in developing new mental health programming at universities. I helped to create and run Carleton University’s From Intention to Action counselling program, and at the University of Calgary, I founded a student support program named STEPS, offering counselling to at-risk students.
